Son Heung-min becomes fifth player in EPL history with 'goal, assist, and own goal in one game'

Son Heung-min became the fifth player in EPL history to record a goal, an assist and an own goal in the same game.

Tottenham Hotspur drew 3-3 away to Manchester City in the 14th round of the 2023-2024 English Premier League (EPL) at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester, England, at 1:30 a.m. ET on Wednesday. Son Heung-min played the full game and finished with one goal and one assist, as well as an own goal.

According to Opta, Son recorded a goal, an assist, and an own goal on the day, making him just the fifth player in history to accomplish all three in a single game.

He joins Kevin Davies in 2008, Wayne Rooney in 2012, Gareth Bale in 2012 and Jacob Ramsey in 2022 as the fifth players in history to record a goal, an assist and an own goal.

According to Opta, Son also became the first player in 24 years to score a goal and an own goal in the first 10 minutes of an EPL game since Gareth Barry scored a goal and an own goal in the first 10 minutes of a match between Aston Villa and Charlton in May 1999.
