The aftermath of the catastrophe is still unfolding.

France cruised to a 14-0 victory over Gibraltar in their Euro 2024 qualifying Group B match at the Allianz Riviera in Nice, France, at 4:45 a.m. ET on June 19. With the win, France consolidated their position atop the group.

The difference in quality between the two teams was stark, as if watching a college vs. high school game. Gibraltar took the lead in the third minute of the first half on an own goal by Ethan Santos. France took the lead just four minutes into the game when Marcus Touraine added a goal a minute later.

The French massacre of Gibraltar began before the final whistle. Warren Zaire-Emery, who became the second youngest player ever to make a debut for the French national team, opened the scoring in the 16th minute of the first half.

France scored four goals in a seven-minute span midway through the first half. Kylian Mbappe scored on a penalty kick in the 30th minute, followed by Jonathan Klose in the 34th minute, Kingsley Coman in the 36th minute, and Youssouf Fofana in the 37th minute. The score was 7-0 at halftime.

The French offense continued early in the second half. Gibraltar were unable to stop the French at all, despite their extreme tactics of playing an all-out defense. The Gibraltar players simply played physical defense.

Even this had its limits. When Adrien Rabiot scored in the 18th minute of the second half, it started to fall apart again. Coman followed two minutes later. Even at 9-0, France had no mercy. Ousmane Dembele scored in the 28th minute and Mbappe in the 29th to set a new record for the most goals scored in a single game in the history of soccer's A-match. 먹튀검증

Even at 11-0, there was no mercy for France. After Mbappe's epic long-range strike, Olivier Giroud added two more goals to make it 14-0. It was a game that could have been closer to 20 goals without exaggeration if the French had capitalized on their finishing.

Let's be honest, there's not much the players can take away from a 14-0 scoreline. It's hard to imagine that the French players grew from this game, and the Gibraltar players must be devastated.

British Sky Sports journalist Liam Thomas took to social media to say, "France shouldn't be playing Gibraltar, it doesn't help anyone. There needs to be a tiered qualification system for all these international tournament matches."

Thomas noted that the draw shouldn't be made for Gibraltar's sake. "Gibraltar needs to play competitive matches to develop. Losing 0-14 is not a competitive game. It doesn't make you better as a player."
